Marquette Symphony Series - White Water
Dean and Bette Premo formed the band White Water in 1984. Music brought them together when they were in college and has been an important part of their life together ever since. Their welcoming style invites every audience member to richly experience folk and traditional music whether it comes in the form of a thoughtful ballad or break-neck fiddle tune. The White Water ensemble often includes Atlantic Mine residents Carrie and Susan Dlutkowski. Carrie’s fiddle playing and step-dancing thrills and inspires audiences. Bette and Dean are long-time activists for performing arts in the Upper Peninsula. For thirty years, they have organized and hosted the Second Sunday Folk Dance series that features national and international talent in a concert and dance setting. Their latest project (“Beethoven and Banjos”) is a collaboration of traditional and classical music featuring world class musicians in a week-long residency in the Upper Peninsula. Artists in this endeavor will lead school workshops, compose pieces inspired by the U.P. and provide concerts in various theaters.
