Wisconsin Waterpark Roundup: Great Wolf Lodge, Wisconsin Dells

Sep 11, 2013 03:26PM ● By Julie Henning
In the Wisconsin Dells recently for the grand opening of the ShadowQuest interactive game, we took the opportunity to stay and play at the Great Wolf Lodge. Housed in a campus comprised of buildings designed to look like northwoods lodges, the resort stays true to the theme: Last Frontier. With wolves, and totem poles, and a giant fireplace in the Grand Lodge, the Wisconsin Dells location features venues such as the Northern Lights Arcade, the Loose Moose Bar and Grill, and the Buckhorn Exchange Gift Shop.

Easily accessible from Interstate 94 (exit at Wisconsin Dells Parkway), the Great Wolf Lodge is close to restaurants, shopping, and Knuckleheads Bowling & Indoor Amusement Park. In fact, Great Wolf offers patrons the ability to purchase admission tickets to area attractions at a 20% discount. For example, an adult ticket for an Upper Dells Boat Tour will run you $21.28 (instead of $26.60) if purchased in advance at the front desk.

Great Wolf Outdoor Waterpark

One of the more established waterparks in the Wisconsin Dells, the building has been updated with modern amenities, including refrigerators and microwaves in each room. Even the Standard Suite has a private balcony or patio, perfect for drying towels or just enjoying a bit of sunshine and fresh air.

Great Wolf Waterpark Indoor Slides

Copied and pasted directly from the Great Wolf Lodge website, here's probably what most people want to know about the Great Wolf Lodge: Your Great Wolf Lodge adventure begins in our massive, 84-degree indoor water park. Splash the day away in over 80,000 square feet of water-packed excitement, including jaw-dropping slides for thrill seekers or zero-depth entry areas for little ones. Outside the water park, the fun continues. Grab a wand and battle a dragon in MagiQuest or get an ice cream-themed manicure in Scooops Kid Spa before gathering your family in our Grand Lobby for nightly fireside Story Time, the perfect ending to a Great Wolf day.

Great Wolf WaterslideWith enough options to keep everyone happy for a long weekend, the Great Wolf Lodge really does have something for everyone. Perfect for elementary-age kids, if your teen is looking to spend half the day extracting bathing suites from between their butt cheeks, this is not the waterpark for you. Moms and dads, if you can sneak away without abandoning your children, take a dip in the adults only upper-level hot tub.

Kids Activities

An additional benefit available to guest is the Great Wolf Kids program featuring activities like a Wolf Walk in the Grand Lobby, Clocktower show, face painting, trivia, and storytime and character visit. Especially for parents of toddlers, any of these options offers a nice "motivator" for helping kids to hang up their lifejackets and take a break from the wave pool.

Great Wolf Mascot

A special thanks to Great Wolf Lodge for providing our family complimentary lodging and daily waterpark passes. Wisconsin Parent does not endorse any establishment, event, organization or venue we wouldn’t take our own families to.
