A crackling fire, the smell of evergreen everywhere and candles twinkling away, that is what visitors will experience when they walk into the Durant House Museum on December 12 & 13. Bring your family and step back in time during the annual Candle Light Event at the Durant House Museum from 2-6pm. Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for kids. Visitors of all ages will get a chance to interact with volunteers dressed in period costume who will explain all about holiday traditions, from cooking to music,that would have been familiar to families in the 19th century. Guided tours of the home will be offered for interested visitors as well. The Durant House Museum is located within the LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, at 37W700 Dean Street in St. Charles.
