Listen to a live performance by the Madison-based Handphibians. The Handphibians are modeled after the Brazilian baterias (percussion batteries) of the Escolas de Samba in Rio de Janeiro, Blocos Afros of Salvador, and the Maracatu Naçãos of Recife. The group's music is also influenced by the percussion traditions of Cuba, Africa, and Wisconsin. This free performance at the Memorial Union Terrace is presented by the Wisconsin Union Directorate Music Committee with support provided by the UW Credit Union.
