Imagination Station in Oconomowoc Celebrates 5 Year Anniversary

Jun 05, 2014 03:59PM ● By Julie Henning
Friends of Imagination Station in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin is celebrating the playground's 5 year build anniversary and the grand opening of the accessible restroom on June 7 from 1PM-4PM. The event is free and open to everyone; highlights will include bounce houses, face painting, food vendors and (of course), Imagination Station.

Wisconsin Parent Milwaukee Editor Melissa Peterson is a current board member with Friends of Imagination Station and is helping to make this event a success.

I have been a board member for two years with Friends of Imagination Station.  I joined right after most of the fundraising was done for the restroom, but we all were involved with the design to a certain degree, and the work was supervised by the City of Oconomowoc.  The bathroom is fully accessible to those in walkers, wheelchairs, or other adaptive devices; there is even a family restroom with a toilet for the littlest of kids and a changing table.

On the other side of the family restroom there is a larger changing table for older children who may still have the need to utilize a changing table. We truly thought about how we can make this a restroom that everyone can use and can accommodate all those who love to use Imagination Station.

We are still currently fundraising, as Imagination Station has been funded through community funding, private donations, grants, and help from the City of Oconomowoc and it is maintained by the City of Oconomowoc.  We would love to have a shade structure in the future as well as some sort of water feature, so please help us achieve these next goals.  Friends of Imagination Station is a 501c3 and your donation can be an IRS deduction.
